SHORT LIST OF CASKS.

Onxt a few minor cases were dealt with by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday.

In view of the fait that she had spent the week-end in the cells, one first offender, convicted of insobriety, was discharged without penalty. Two absent first offenders each forfeited their £1 bail. Matthew Bradley, an old man, was convicted of being drunk, foi the second time recently. He was discharged without penalty, a son promising to look after him. James Adams, a member of the Maori contingent, pleaded guilty to being disorderly while drunk. He had displayed a pugnacious tendency in Queen Street on Saturday night. He was discharged without the imposition of any penalty. Pleading guilty to assault, Robert Beazley was fined £1 and lis costs, with the alternative of three days' imprisonment. He had made himself a nuisance to some couples, the assault being the outcome of their remonstrances.

Paul Feltiiu. who stowed away on the Niagara, and who had been remanded in custody for a week, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. He was told that he would have to make an endeavour to get work, and to pay the fare. £12 10s. His trade was stated "to be that of a hatmaker.

Charged with an idle and disorderly person, with insufficient lawful means of support. Jessie Minns was remanded for a week. It was stated that she was not amenable to the discipline of the various homes in which she has been placed.
