THE HOSPITAL BOARD.
The Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met last evening, there being present: Mr. J. M. Mennie, in the chair, Dr. Florence Keller, and Messrs. M. J. Coyle, F. Dye, P. M. Mackay, P. J. Nerhony, and W. Wallace. The request of the Point Chevalier Road Board to have the Hospital Board's reserve in that district opened to the public during the summer months was granted, •(subject to the board's right of withdrawal and provided that a caretaker is appointed, f The report of the Costley Home Committee showed that 12 new inmates had been admitted, the total number in the home being 263. Drs. G L. Cawkwell and JE. Foster Holmden were appointed honorary visiting i anesthetists to the hospital, the opinion I being expressed that too many anaesthetists could not be available. It was stated ' that Dr. J. V. Pearce, of Ballarat, who has been appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dr. Abbott from the position of junior medical officer, would arrive in Auckland very shortly. It was decided to hold a special meeting at some future date to consider the question of heating the operating theatre in I the hospital and certain wards and massage | rooms. °
