ACCIDENT TO MAORI.
THUMB COMPLETELY SEVERED.
[BY TELECRATH.—TRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Saturday. A Maori named Williams met with a serious mishap in Palmer's furniture factory at Levin yesterday. He was removing a piece-, of timber from a circular 6aw bench when one of his hands came into contact with, the saw, the result being that the thumb of his right hand was completely severed. He calmly picked up the severed member, wrapped it in a piece of paper, and put it in his pocket. It was only when receiving medical attention that he seemed to feel pain and realise the seriousness of his accident.
