THEFT OF A CHEQUE.
CONFIDING FARMER DECEIVED.

Wellington, Saturday. At the Supreme Court yesterday Sutherland Murray Donald Grant was convicted ><if - the theft of a cheque from D. Sullivan. The latter, * farmer in the King Country, ■ met accused at a hotel and asked him ■ . to cash a cheque for him, as he (Sullivan) f was not known. They had drinks. Then' : Grant asked Sullivan to "wait a minute" and went out, but could not" afterwards be found. Grant was remanded till Monday for sentence.
