FIGHTING IN BELGIUM.

TERRIBLE SLAUGHTER. ISSUE UNDECIDED. (Received October 26, 2 a.m.) ' Amsterdam, October 25. On Saturday the fighting between Ostend and Nieuport was of a most sanguinary character. A captured German states that after one fight 1500 of his comrades were buried in a single field. The bombardment above the Yser Canal continued throughout the day. Both sides rested in the morning, but firing was resumed at noon. The battle is still undecidedA British officer relates that a Belgian farce on Wednesday in the darkness approached to within 300 yds of the German trenches on the Yser, and opened a devastating fire. A bayonet charge completed the rout of the enemy. Seventeen hundred Germans were killed. German marines have occupied Knocke, Heyst, and other coast towns, north of Ostend.
