LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY.

TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. PROCESSION AND SPORTS. f Labour Day will be observed in Auckland to-dav. when all the Government offices and business premises will be closed. For some weeks past the Trades and Labour Council has been busily engaged in making arrangements for suitably celebrating the day, and this morning a procession of vehicles and cars, representative of various trades and industries, will march through the streets. Those participating will assemble in Quay Street, and the procession will move off for the Domain at ten o'clock. The route will be via Queen Street, Wellesley Street West, Hobson Street, Pitt Street, Karangahape Road, Symonds Street, and Khyber Pass. The newly formed Trades Union Silver Band and the drum and fife bands of the city will head the procession. .At the Domain an excellent sports programme will be carried out, and one of the chief attractions will be a demonstration by the fire brigade. There will he a number of cycling and running races, besides various dancing competitions. A bowling tournament will commence on the Carlton winter green at 9-15 a.m., to ; wind up the season, while matches will be played by various other clubs on their own greens.
