HUNTLY DISASTER.

SCOPE OF THE INQUIRY.

Wellington, Thursday. The question of extending the scope of the inquiry into the circumstances of the late Huntly disaster, so as to investigate the alleged cases of victimisation, was again raised in the House this afternoon by Sir Joseph Ward, who asked the Prime Minister a further question on the subject.

Mr. Massey said that the matter had not yet been dealt with by the Cabinet. When the recent Cabinet meeting.? were held the Minister for Mines was unable to be present owing to being engaged at meetings of the Mines Committee in connection with the Mines and Coal Mines Bills. He pointed out that the commission had not yet reported upon the matters covered by its order of reference and that it had not yet concluded its sittings. Sir Joseph Ward said that there was a great deal of interest and anxiety in connection with the matter. THE HERALD FUND.
