On the 3rd ii :s j the total number of applicants for th« week was 191, 64 of whom were assisted ' to employment. On October 10 the-a " were 76 labourers applying, an d , ro l was being found for 30 of them. 'Li addi tion to labourers, 22 painters have been placed out of 32 applicants. As regards carpenters—27 applicaiita-the only work immediately available is the erection o' 25 workers' dwellings, which will be put • in hand at once. Inquiries arc also be ' ing prosecuted with a view to finding f u ! ther work." ~
