The mobilizations and the scare about French paper money have had their effect at Monte Carlo. Most of the croupiers and most of the players have gone off to join their various regiments. Onlv a few tables are in use. and the gambling rooms are only open from ten a.m. to twelve and from three to eight p.m. For the first time in its history, the casino has taken to using counters instead of coins.
