It was decided to celebrate the twenty-first year of women's suffrage in the Dominion on tho anniversary of the day on which women first voted. Much indignation was expressed m connection with the " canteen scandal " in connection with the number of men unemployed at present in Auckland, the members considered that more energetic measures should be taken to cope with the evil. The Labour Bureau last week had only been able to find employment for about 50 men out of over 220 It was urged that as a truce is supposed to exist IP. Parliament on party questions there ought also to be a truce in labour matters, but that this is not so was regarded as proved by the conditions existing among the waterside workers. Home of the men had been working overtime almost every night lately, while others were unable to get any work at all.
