FIRST ARRIVALS ARE DUE THIS WEEK.

INTENSE PATRIOTISM OF NATIVE PEOPLE.

London, September 9.

The Indian contingents muster 70,000. The first arrivals arc due this week. Accompanying the force is Sir Pertab Singh, the Maharajahs of Bikanir, Patiala, Rutlam, Uishengart, and Jodpur. and the Xawabs of Pagora, Sachin, and Bhopal.

Mr. Scott Robertson, Under-Secretary for India, read in the House of Commons Viscount Hardinge's intensely interesting account of how the princes and people of India had offered their services. The House was deeply moved, and cheered.

In all, seven hundred Indian rulers offered their services and resources, besides men and money, some for equipping a hospital ship, and others providing a thousand horses. As showing the extent of the offers the Dalai Lama offered a thousand Tibetans.

The Indian Government has contributed £1,000,000 sterling towards the cost of the Indian contingent.
