Russia's mobilisation is virtually completed. A million troops will shortly cross the Austrian frontier, and 500,000 will cross the German frontier.
The rapidity and effectiveness with which General Jilinsky's plans have been carried out has surprised foreign observers.
There are on] six army corps on Germany's eastern frontier, and the brunt of the defence must fall on the, landwher and landsturm.
Russia has destroyed the railway and the telegraph lin<-s at eleven points in the neighbourhood of Tilsit, a town in the extreme north of East Prussia, 10 miles south of the Russian frontier.
