MOUNTED SQUADRON.

Botwecn 30 and 40 ox-members of mounted volunteer companies met at the drill hall on Wednesday night in connection with the formation of a mounted rifles squadron. Mr. G. R. Hutchinson reported that sums totalling £125 had been subscribed by business men of Auckland to equip the (squadron, a further sum boing available if required. Tho meeting appointed Messrs. J. H. Gunson, W. B. Ley land and G. R. Hutchinson as trustees of the fund and several gentlemen as an executive and also elected officers and noncommissioned officers for the squadron. It has been arranged' that members will be provided with horses for oso at mounted parades. It is proposed to hold dismounted paradoß each Wednesday evening and mounted parades on Sunday mornings.
