German residents in the Upper Mooter* district have issued a statement declaring their loyalty to the Empire, adding " Residents of German extraction, who for bo many years have made their homes hero without molestation, and on terms of equality with the rest of the community and who havt, enjoyed the protection and assistance of the Government of this Dominion will stand shoulder to shoulder, man for man, with any other inhabitants of this Dominion to defend ite shore* and institutions, their homes and families, against any foe whatsoever."
