MEN STILL IN WELLINGTON

Wellington, Thursday.

The preparations for the despatch of the main expeditionary force- are being pushed on rapidly. District concentrations are being made at Auckland, Palmerston North, Christchurch, and Dunedin. It is understood that the men will depart from the four main ports, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Tho date of the departure has not yet been fixed. "

The advance guard of the expeditionary force is on board the two troopships in Wellington Harbour, and much speculation is taking place as to tho time of departure and the probable destination.

In the House of Representatives this ovening, Mr. Mansoy said he had received a great many inquiries as to when tho troops would leave. " The only information

I can give," ho said, " is that the troops are now under the control of the Imperial authorities and not under the control of the New Zealand Government. They will not sail until the Imperial authorities give tho word. Ido not know when that word will come. In the meantime, we have complied with the instructions of the Imperial Government in placing the men in the two ships. I am only expressing my own opinion when I say I do not think the ships will sail to-morrow."
