Mr. Herbert Cuughton has been appointed conductor of the Wellington Musi cal Union. Mr. T. G. Fielder, of Now Plymouth, is to take over the position of inspector of lactones at Auckland. Mr. Fielder was recently an inspector under the Public Health Act Mr. 0 F. Dickeson, of Kaikohe, North Auckland, died at a private hospital yester <jay, after an illness extending over manv month*. The deceased leaves a widow and four eons— Messrs, Frank and C. Dtcke SOU, of Kaikohe. Mr. Colin Dickeson of London, Mr. Thurston Dickeson. of Wk land and one daughter, Mr?. (-"rank Goldie, of Auckland. Mr. Harold Nathan, who if in Lnndor has joined the Kin L ' Edward's FT..,,, ' according bo a private cable message re jceived in Auckland yesterday He left , for the front on Monday ' last. Mr J Harold Nathan is a son of Mr. N. Alfred J Nathan, of Auckland. The latter'.* son I inlaw, Lieutenant-Commander Hewitt i> ;serving on 11.M.5. Pyramus, Mr. V. R. Pond, who has been ap I pointed lieutenant and quartermaster of I the New Zealand Railway Engineers, is an I Auckland boy, having received his training I in the I'ar.H'U Cadet* and afterwards a* 'ieutenant in the Ponswil'y Naval C.id.M He joined the railway service in W<-lli-iq ton and was appointed lieutenant in the Railway Engineers on the formation of that corps.
