HERALD PATRIOTIC FUND.
DONATIONS, TOTAL £3190. A HELENSVILLE COLLECTION The Herald Patriotic Fund now totals £3190. Many small contributions came to hand yesterday. These are welcomed' as cordially as large, donations, tho purpose of the fund being to enable- all readers to gi\e whatever contributions they can afford. A collection is being made at Helensville. The first instalment of £25, sent by Mr. H. W. Stringer, is acknowledged to-day. Other provincial towns might follow this example. Tho employees of tho Sslwyn Timber Company at Mangatapu each contributed a day's pay. Mr. J. ,s. Browne, of Bnrnsidc, Hinuera, intimates that ho is sending an exceptionally fine bullock—tho winner of several first prizes—to Messrs. Buckland's sale at Wcstfield on Wednesday next, the gross proceeds of the sale of tho bullock to be paid over to the Herald fund. Contributions to the fund may bo sent to the Herald Office, Auckland, or paid direct at tho Herald Office, where a subscription list will be found. Tho amounts collected will from time to time be transferred to tho Auckland Patriotic Fund.
