STRIKE PRISONERS.
» QUESTION OF REMISSION. [BT TEMGRArH.—SrECIAL correspondent-] Wellington, Wednesday. The cablegram from London stating that the Home Government has remitted the unexpired portions of sentences on prisoners who were concerned in recent strikes, led to a question being put to-day to the Minister for Justice, the Hon. A. L. Heidmsn, a*- to whether the New Zealand Government proposed to take any action in th* same direction. The Minister replied that as the petitions for the remission of the terms were now before the Petitions Committee, nothing could be done until the committee's report had been received.
