[prom otnt owx ooEaESPoyDrajm.l \ CAMBRIDGE. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The annual meeting of the Trinity Presbyterian Church was held on Monday evening, the Rev W. Gow presiding. Reports from the various departments of church work were read, these lining of a satisfactory nature. A vote of thanks and sympathy was passed to Mr. R. N.I Adams, minister's assistant, who is at present laid aside through illness. A motion was passed placing on record' a vote of appreciation of the appointment <>t Mr. Jno. Fisher, .session clerk, to the Legislative Council. WAERENGA. WHAXGAMAIIINO ROAD BOARD The monthly meeting of the Whancamarino Road Board took place on Saturday last. The engineer's report on tin \ contacts on hand showed that not much! progress had been made during the month i owing to the bad weather. The hoard! decided to call tenders for metalling a ; section of 86 chains oi the Tani«ha Road. ! It was resolved to carry out the request I of the ratepayers, that'the piovisions of the county bylaws relating t< wheel i traffic should be put into operation in the toad district next winter. Mr. Bailey, chairman of the Wailiatol County Council, wrote staling that the council would obtain an engineer? report' on t|ie condition of the Waipuna bridge, and that the matter would come before the council at next meeting. The chair-1 man gave notice of motion to strike, a! general rate of Id in the £ for the ensuing ' year. A general meeting of the ratepayers was held on Saturday to discuss'the finances of the hoard, which are not in a very prosperous condition. I WAITOA DRAINAGE. The monthly meeting of the Waitoa Drainage Board was held on Saturday, Present: Messrs. H. Magil], chairman, Forsyth, Milliken, and Walters. It was decided that the. engineer should prepare plans and call for tenders for Woods's outlet in the central area. A petition was received from a. large number of settlers along No. 8 road asking that they be included in the new drainage scheme. This was agreed to. The clerk reported that the roll and plan of the proposed drainage area had been approved. It was decided that the necessary legal steps be taken to form tho now drainage area in the western district, and also that an application be made foi a loan of £1500. It was decided that the now drainage area be known as the Wakahora 6peciai drainage area. The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Bowling Club was held on Friday evening there being about 60 members present. The president, Mr. J. D. Morison, presided. The election of officers resulted ai follows:— President, Mr. J. A. Clothier; vice-president*;, Mr. Grierson and Dr. Inglin; secretary, Mr. Yardley ; assistant secretary, Mr. E. C. Tasscll; treasurer, "Mr. G.'F. McGirr: auditor, Mr. R. S. Hansa ; committee, Messrs. R. L. Somers, J. D. Mormon, R. Tooman. The balance-sheet showed a, debit balance of £17. It was agreed to raise the annual subscription from 5s to 10s 6d.

DEPARTING CITIZENS. Dr. Galligan and Mrs. Galligan, who arc leaving Waihi for Carterton, were entertained at a farewell social by a number of flip'")* pt the King's Theatre. On behalf of those present the Mayor, Mr. M. G. Power, presented Mrs. Galligan with a silver-fish service and Miss Galligan with a silver jewel-casket. General regret was expressed at the approaching departure of the guests. Mr. A. H. Benge, who for 19 years has been headmaster of the Waihi Central school, has resigned his position owing to ill-health. Apart from school matters Mr. Benge has been a popular citizen, and his departure, will occasion much regret.

WAITJKU.

REFORM LEAGUE. Tho annual meeting of tho Waiutu branch of tho New Zealand Reform League took place in the public hall on Saturday. Mr. A. M. Barriball was voted to the chair. The report showed a strong membership. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year: — President, Mr. A. M. Barriball; vicepresidents, Mr. D. D. Hayes, Dr. Howden, and Mr. L. F. Shakes pear; secretary and treasurer, Mr. S. T. Rossiter; committee, Messrs. C. B. Herrold, W. Cameron A. Z. Hull, H. W. Smith, and C. H. Greenhead. The Waiuku branch of the ,New Zealand Farmers' Union held a very successful concert in the public hall on Friday evening, the occasion being to celebrate the position the branch had attained in being the strongest in tho Dominion.
