The Clancurry copper mine has closed down pending negotiations for financing tho output of the blister copper. A thousand men are affected.' The tin mines at Emaraville are ceasing, and the men are returning to the cities to enlist in the expeditionary force.
The Federal authorities are using every endeavour to prevent the crisis affecting industries.
The Broken Hill Proprietory has arranged for work at the mine to continue at the present rate of wages, but will probably curtail the hours of labour. The Mount Lycll and Mount Morgan mines are expected to adopt similar conditions.
The central council of the Employers' Federation appeals to masters to do everything to provide work and confine the distress to tho smallest limits possible.
