PRICE OF COMMODITIES.
STOCK EXCHANGE CLOSED.

Sydney, August 11.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Holman, in reply to questions as to whether prices of commodities were being unduly inflated, said the Government was prepared to pass urgent legislation to prevent such a thing occurring.
A Royal Commission has been appointed at Perth to fix food prices.
The Master Retailers' Association has endorsed the action of the Chamber of Commerce, recommending that the trade should not increase the price of commodities until compelled to pay more for them.
The Sydney Stock Exchange has ,been closed for another week, at the end of which the position will be reconsidered.
The wheat market is steady, 4s 2d being asked and 4s offered.
