A NATIONAL APPEAL

MONEY TO BUY AN AIRSHIP.

Mr. G. A. Streiff, Swiss Consul in New Zealand, has issued the following appeal to the Swiss in New Zealand:—" Switzerland is in danger of becoming the battlefield of Europo unless we can compel the contending parties to respect our neutrality. Our brave and well drilled army is at the frontiers. Landwehr and Landsturm, comprising every able-bodifld man from 17 to 60, and older volunteers up to 70, are in readiness to defend the defenceless.

. " Our'ladies of all classes are working under the Geneva Cross. Let us then help as best wo can. " Airships above all things are needed, being one of the means to watch the movements of the intending invaders. Let us contribute towards the purchase of a first-class airship, to be named New Zealand, thus very properly advertising the country in whicl? wo have found a safe and peaceful existence, "Tho leading newspapers of every Now Zealand province will receive subscriptions, which can be paid in gradually, and the final result will be published by the Swiss Consulate in Auckland, whose bankers will guarantee the safe payment to the Swiss Government." Mr. Streiff has opened the subscription list with a donation of £20, which he has deposited with the Bank of New South Wales at Auckland.
