There was only one occupant of the central police cells last- night, a man arrested for begging.
The Mayoress of Auckland, Mrs. C. J. Fair, will bo " At Home " to the citizens in the Town Hall on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The congratulations of the Wellington Provincial Industrial Association are to be forwarded to the Auckland Exhibition executive on the success of the recent Exhibition.
The building in which the destructive fire of last Wednesday night occurred in ■Ponsonby Road was 'owned by Mr. R. Callow, and the block of three "shops was insured for £2300 in the South British Office. .
