RUSSIAN FOREST FIRES.
BURNING OF 600 HOUSES.

St. Petersburg, July 15. Aa a result of tho forest fires following the drought, 600 houses havo been burned at Wankoe and Novogorod.
Rain alone will stop appalling fires raging in Archangel, Vitebsk, Vologda, Smolensk, and Yaroslavl.
Troops arc fighting great forest fires at Krasnoyo Solo, while 18 companies of soldiers are engaged in fighting great fires at Tver. The peat is burning to a depth of seven feet.
Roinforcoments havo been despatched from various districts.
