A meeting of the Management Committee- of tho Auckland Rugby Union was held in the Amateur Sports Clubroom last evening, Mr. M. ,J. Sheahan, chairman, presiding. There were also present : —Messrs. J. They asked that at the Show Grounds the "dead hall lines be marked out; that the sharp edges of tho goalposts bo taken off; and that the erees'-room be lighted. They also asked, insofar as representative matches are concerned, that a room be allotted for the use of the referees; that seating accommodation bo reserved for referees; and that two ladies' tickets be given to tho members of the association. It was pointed out that tho matters complained of at the Show Grounds had either been, or would be, attended to. It was decided to set apart a room for the referees' use on the days on which representative matches are being played, and to grant one lady's ticket to each member of the Referees' Association. As no other matches are held on the days on which representative matches are played, it was agreed that it was not necessary to reserve seats for the members of the Referees' Association The Ponsonbv Club wrote asking for the transfer of a player named T. Lindrum, a member oi tho' Post and Telegraph team, to the club's senior team. It was

decided to inform the club that as Lindrum was a member of a junior team affiliated with the Ponsonby Club, it was not necereary to apply for a transfer, and that he could be played as a member of the Ponsonby senior team on Saturday. An application was received from the secretary of the Auckland Electric Tramway Football Club for the use of Eden Park on August 19 for the annual match Detween the Wellington and Auckland Tramway teams. The Auckland Rugby Union was again called upon last evening to deal with several cases of rough play and misconduct by junior players. During a match played, at North Shore on Saturday, between the Ponsonby and North Shore fourth grade teams, the referee, Mr. H. T. Le Cren, ordered a member of the former team to leave tho field for striking an opponent. It was stated i that the referee was afterwards subjected to much abuse from the remaining members of the team, but as tho time was short and most of the Ponsonby players were misconducting themselves he did not order any more off. After the match ho was said to have been the subject of. further abuse, and as ha was unable to single out individuals he reported tHe whole team. Messrs. Murray and E. L. Eyre, secretaries of the Ponsonby and North Shore Clubs respectively, were in attendance, and made personal explanations and statements. The committee discussed the matter, and some members wanted to deal at once with the team as a whole, but it was pointed out that some innocent players might be punished. It was eventually decided to send a copy of the referee's statement to the Ponsonby Club, and ask that body to inquire into the matter, and report to" the union next Wednesday. The case of the boy ordered off was deferred until next Wednesday. A recently-disqualified player was reported for his conduct while a spectator at a fourth grade match at Eden Park on Saturday. The matter was deferred, in order that he might bo asked to attend the next meeting of the committee. A meeting of the Auckland Football Association was hold in tho Sports Club on Tuesday evening. Messrs. D. A. Williams presided, and there were also 1 (resent: —Messrs. Holford, Munster, Hanks, Dance, Harrison, Turnbull, Stewart, Winks, and PhiJp. A letter was received from the Whangarei Club, asking for a match with a team selected from the local juniors, and stating that the dates of either August 1 or August 8 would be convenient to their club. It was decided that the match be played at Auckland on August 8, and that the Selection Committee bo requested to select a team from the A and i$ second division to meet Whangarei on mat date.

The Y.M.C.A. team, in a match played on June- 6, against Tabernacle B, in the second division, played an unregistered player. The game resulted in a win for Y.M.C.A. by 2 goals to 1. It was resolved that the match bo awarded to Tabernacle B.

Owing to Victoria Park not being available for noxt Saturday, the committee had considerable difficulty in arranging all the matches for Saturday. 10 cope with the difficulty it was found necessary to play one of the second division games from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Tabernacle A v, W.Y.M.I, was allotted Jiayswater No. 1, from 2 to 3, for their game.

The Pukekohe v. Tabernacle B match was set down to be played at Pukekohe for tho same reason.

The Referees' Association reported that the games on Victoria Park were again interrupted by the spectators from the .Northern Union matches encroaching on the playing area at the conclusion of their game. Although 'there is ample room behind the goal-poste for spectators to leave the ground without encroaching on the Association playing area, this is never done, and repeatedly it is necessary for tho games to bo stopped until these people have crossed the ground. To avoid the trouble, it was decided that the first match be played at 1.45 p.m., instead of 2 p.m., in future. Y.M.C.A.'s application for a reduction in the amount charged for the use of the Bayswater ground for a club six-a-sido tournament on Juno 3, was again before tho committee. A lengthy discussion

followed, and eventually it was decided, by a majority of one, to accept 10s in settlement.

The town clerk notified the Association that instructions had been issued for the lighting of the dressingrooms of the Domain.
