Paris, July 10. Two Frenchmen have invented a piano, the wires of which arc set in vibration by an elcctro-magnefc instead of being struck by hammers.
The mechanism is operated by the usual keyboard, but instead of the notes dying gradually away they maintain their volume as long as the key is pressed. An effect is thus produced similar to that of the organ, and the invention makes the piano an entirely new instrument.
