At a. meeting •of -..the Christenurch Diocesrr Council executive of the New v Zealand Catholic Federation, representing 24 branches in Canterbury and Westland, held tf-nighb, a resolution was passed protesting against the proposed referendum on the Bible in schools question in terms similar to resolutions passed elsewhere. * AUCKLAND RESOLUTIONS. / A resolution expressing appreciation of the action of the Government in introducing the Referendum Bill on the Bible-in-Staie schools question, was passed at a met-tang of the Auckland East distinct committee of the, Bible in Slate Schools I.eacno last night. The committee also decided to urge the member for the district to support the Bill. Meetings of Catholics resident in the Grey Lynn. Archhill, and Richmond districts have passed resolutions pledging themselves to use every consti' utional means t- defeat the proposals of the Bible in State Schools League. Copies of the • resolutions .are to be forwarded to the Prime Minister, the Minister for Education, and Mr. John Payne, M.P. for Grey Lynn.
