KI.ROtTOT, July 1. A SF.vsmovAL arrest was mado to-day in connection with tho Eveleigh robbery. A strong dotacliment of detectives surrounded a cottage in one of (ho better-class rvidetial suburbs, A couple ci them wot" forcing a window when a man name I Ernest Ryan appeared armed with a revolver, and threatened to fire. Ryan was subsequently charged as t'no principal in tho Eveleigh rol»l ery. Tho polico bolievo that ho is indet tical ■with tho man who eluded the polio in their attempt to capture him at Stmtkfield on Juno 16. They had been on the look-out, for him for somo time. It. is bilieved that ho reached Melbourno only a few hours before the vrcst.

Tho areo men Samuel Freeman. Arthur Tathdm, and Norman —arrested in connection with the Evoleigh robbery, were further remanded to-day until Friday. Tho police stated that, in view of an important development in the case, a remand was necessary. The alleged principal had been arrested in Melbourne, an 4 tie proceeds of t'ao robbery, or at all events the bulk of the money, had been recorered.
T iviss and Tatham's bail was reduced to £500. Subsequently Freeman wan committed for trial on a charge of attempting to discharge an automatic pistol at Constable Hooper, with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
