The Mexican Peace Conference at Niagara FalL has been indefinitely adjourned. This step is the result of General Carranza expressing a desire to participate in tho conference, and President Huerta's delegates asking for more time for the latter to consult with his subordinate generals. The mediators explain that the mediation proceedings have not been adjourned, but that perhaps the last formal meeting of the conference has been held. Private despatches received from unofficial sources in Mexico City state that President Huerta has sent his son and daughter towards Puerto Mexico and :4a making preparations for his own departure at short notice. Abandoning the pursuit of the Federal army, General Villa has begun the pursuit of Carranza, who has ammunition which Villa wants. [ The situation of the Constitutionalists in Mexico has reached a critical stage, and the next step, in the opinion of supporters of both Villa and Can ansa, will be open warfare between tho two factions. Genoral Carranza is angry because his agents have not heard from his associate leaders with regard to participating in the conference with the Huertan delegates.
