Tuesday. ; Another Targe meeting of farmers:war held this afternoon to consider the pro-' posals made .; by■. the Wellington Meat" Export Company, in respect. to the erection of freezing works in .the Morton dis-> trict. The proposals were that the cornpany would increase its capital by 20,000, shares, equal to £100,000, and erect sup-; plementary works, provided the settlers took up ,10,000 of ; the shares and decided on a site between Martori and Feilding. The Mayor of Marton, Mr. Miles, who presided, said that the local committee had modified the proposals by fixing the site for the proposed works between Marton and Kakariki, which was considered l to be the most suitable -and • central j position.
