The steamer Turrethill (691 tons) became leaky a day ago and turned turtle off Southwold. The captain and engineer were saved, but 13 others were drowned, including the captain's son, aged seven. COLLISION ON THE THAMES. NO TIME FOR THE BOATS. London, May 13. The steamer Star of New Zealand collided with a pilot boat in the Thames estuary '0-day. The steamer cut the smaller craft from deck to keel, and they remained locked together for three minutes. Then they drifted apart, and the cutter sank instantly, carrying with her five of the crew, who were drowned. While the vessels were locked together, several of the crew of the pilot boat scrambled aboard the Star of New Zealand by means of the anchor chains, while several others were saved from the water, 14 survivors being got aboard the liner.
