RIFLE SHOOTING.
AKARANA DEFENCE CLUB.
The members ,of the Akarana Defence Rifle Club fired for trophies presented by Colonel W. H. Hazard (A section), Messrs. Hugh Wright, Ltd. fB section), and Mr. A. J. Latham (C section), the ranges being 800 yds and 900 yds, 10 shots at each distance. S. Elliott made top score with 95 points out of the possible 100, 48 with a magpie at 800 yds. A.. J. Melville put on 48 at 800 yds, but at 900 yds failed to find the target until his sixth shot, finishing with 28. Elliott, Lane, and Mackie were successful in their respec tivo sections, and these members tako the spoons. Following are the scores:— A SECTION. (Mr. W. H. Hazard's trophy.)
