He left Timaru at 8.35 a.m., but was compelled owing to the extreme cold and to engine troubles to descend at Orari at 9 a.m. He left Oruri at 3.30 p.m., and arrived and landed successfully at the show grounds at Christ-church at 5.5 p.m., where he was welcomed by about 200 people.

He states that the trip was a very rough one, with a gusty wind.

his flight of 100 miles (or 85 miles if only the journey from Orari to Christchurch be counted) is easily the longest yet made in New Zealand. Mr. Scotland recently flew from Invercargill to Gore, a distance of 40 miles.
