GERMAN PROTECTION.
WORK TOWARDS REVISION.
By Telegraph Press Association Copyright.
Berlin, March 5. The existing protective duties must be maintained in Germany, said Herr Delbruck (Minister for the Interior) in a speech in the Reichstag in January. This statement, was re-echoed by Herr Sydow (Prussian Minister for Trade and Commerce), in a speech in the Diet yesterday. He said that if other countries forced a revision of the treaties the question of a new tariff law would give Germany a weapon to negotiate new treaties and to remove existing blemishes. The question was becoming a burning one, and preliminary work was progressing to enable Germany to face the situation.
