VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB.

The Victoria Cruising Club is holding a race for boats steered by ladies this afternoon. The race will start at 2.45 p.m. The handicaps and ladies who are to sail the boats are as follows: —Rangatira (scratch), Miss E. Avery; Celox (scratch), Mrs. George; Sadie (scratch), Miss A. Harnden; Calypso (scratch), Miss Ruth Heldt; Wairiki (lim), Miss Doyle; Glady (sm), Miss* L. J. Macbay ; Mara (6m), Miss i Mackay; Waterwitcli (6m). Sirs. K. Burns; Foam (8m), Miss M. Davis; Doreen (11m), Miss Bennetts; Dulcie (11m), Miss Jennings. The course is as follows :Start from the flagship Heartsease on north side, moored off St. Mary's Beach, thence round Resolution mark on port hand, thence round Squadron buoy on port hand, thence round Sandspit buoy on port hand, back round Resolution buoy on starboard hand, thence round dinghy moored off Calliope Dock on port hand, to- finishing line. About 8i knots. Fairplgj men change as follows —Celox with Sadie, Calypso with Foam, Glady with Wairiki. Doreen with Rangatira, Dulcie with Maru, Waterwitch with Maru.

RACES to cowes.

The New Zealand Power-boat Association will hold cruising races for A and B class boats this afternoon from King's Wharf to Cowes Bay. Mr. J. Wilson will be used as flagship. The limit boats which will be moored off King's Wharf, will be used as flagship. The limit boats in both races will be despatched at two o'clock. Each boat's number will be displayed one minute before starting time, and boats will go at the fall of the number. In class A the competitors will go outside Waiheke, the B class boats taking the inside passage, to Cowes Bay, the finishing line being between the wharf and the launch Mavis, which will be moored in the- bay. Commodore Jaggs will act as judge, and Messrs. W. R. Twigg, and J. Wilson as timekeeper. All boats are requested to await inspection on finishing, as all are eligible for Mr. J. Reid's trophy for the best kept launch. The Class A course will »be about 26 knots 3 cables in length, and the Class B, 20 knots 7 cables. NGARUAWAHIA REGATTA. ROWING EVENTS ABANDONED. The Ngaruawahia Regatta Association having decided that it is impossible to accept the claim, of the Auckland Rowing Association, the rowing events have been erased from the programme for the regatta of March 17, and events as given below have been substituted. The committee of the association at the commencement of the dispute referred the matter to the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, but that body declined to interfere. The Ngsiruawahia Association then irJLade an offer to all the affiliated clubs of the Auckland Rowing Association to put the races on if they were prepared to compete, knowing that if they all chose to enter the Auckland Association would be helple«(S, A a suspension of all clubs would" mean an automatic dissolution of the Auckland Rowing Association. During the last 17 years the Ngaruawahia Regatta. Association has distributed! over £1000 in prize money among the various clubs of the province, but all the affiliated cluba, including even the country clubs, declined to enter, therefore the rowing prograir-Vne has been deleted. The following events have been added to the usual large native programing — Second Mounted Swimming Race (open to qjl competitors except the winner of first swim) : First prize, £4; second, £1 ss; third, 10s. Motor-boat Race (for boats under eight knots; distance, two miles: First prize, £5 ; second, £1; third, 10s. Motor launch parade to follow canoe parade. Highland Fling (for men) : First prise, £2; second, £1. Highland Fling (for boys under 16) : First prize, gold medal; second, 10s. Highland Fling (for girls under 16) : First prize, gold medal; second, 10s. Open Piping Contest: First prize, £2; second, £1. Irish Jig (for men, points to count for dress in judging) : First prize, £2; second, £1. A prize of £1 will be given for the best dressed Highland man and Highland lass.
