SENSELESS HOAX.
"TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN."
[BY telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.] Greymottth, Friday. A bottle picked up on the beach contamed the following message — Send out a tug or rescue boat at once; 15 miles south." The message was signed by several persons known in G?eymouth. St-jam was got up on the Harbour Board's tug, but in the meantime it was discovered that the message was a hoax.
A party of men who had been out fishing on Sunday last admitted having perpetrated the senseless joke, and made no further explanation except that they wanted to see what would become of it.
