ATTEMPTED BURGLARY.
HOTEL THIEVES DISTURBED.
AN ARREST MADE.
[by telegraph.— CORRESPONDENT.] Wangantji, Wednesday. An impudent attempt at burglary was frustrated at the Newmarket Hotel yesterday afternoon. A daughter of the proprietor had occasion to go upstairs, and there she found two men ransacking a chest of drawers. They promptly made their exit by way of the fire-escape at the rear of the building, A few minutes afterwards the men who are believed to be responsible for the theft presented themselves at the bar and asked for drinks. They appeared before the magistrate this morning and were remanded until Friday.
