THE RULES OF TENNIS.

PROPOSED INNOVATIONS.

AMERICANS CONCERNED.

Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received March 3, 6.10 p.m.) London, March 3.

The International Tennis Federation at the end of the month will consider a proposal to add to the rule governing the service' the following words:—"And provided that such foot is replaced on the ground behind the base lino before either foot is placed on the court." The Americans consider that the proviso is aimed directly against McLoughlin, the player who did so much to win the Davis Cup, whose service is his greatest asset, whilst it will also embarrass Norman Brookes, of Australia. The principle of one service will also be mooted. Wilding, of New Zealand, favours these, drastic provisions becoming additions to the law of the game.
