DECLARED A BANKRUPT. CLAIM FOB MAINTENANCE. :[BT telegb.u-h—ow CORRESPONDENT] Hamilton, Tuesday. A man namsd W. J. Renner, who has done a good deal of contracting in this district during some years, was arrested at OUbornc and brought to Hamilton, where be was adjudicated a bankrupt on the petition of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., to which he is indebted to the extent of £1052. Mr. Storey, for petitioning creditor, Stated at a # meeting that Renner had several weeks ago left Frankton suddenly, .laying he was going to Kawhia to buy horses. It was found that Renner did not go there, and on visiting Rcnner's house, be found a meeting of creditors being held. i In the interests of all the creditors he thought it better to have Renner adjudicated a bankrupt, so as to ensure a fair division of the estate. ! Render admitted that he wad insolvent and declared that he would probably have ' filed his own petition shortly. He denied * that he had any intention of leaving New Zealand or delaying or defrauding his creditors. t Renner waa brought before the Court to-day on a charge of failing to maintain, bis two illegitimate children. Renner agreed to pay 15s a week towards the toainteti.inco of the children.
