Ma. J. 8. Dickscn, M.P., arrived from the South by yesterday afternoon's express.

Dr. F. W. King, who has beon lying in a private hospital since the night of January 10 last, suffering from a fractured skull, is reported to bo still in a serious condition. He regains consciousness at intervals onlv.

Mr E. H. Riley, General Manager of Railways, who lias been making an inspection of t.he North Auckland, Dargaville, and Whangarei sections of the railways, returned to Wellington by last .light's Main Trunk express.

Dr. F. Truby King, who represented New Zealand at the recent international conference in London on infantile mortality, is returning to the Dominion by the Ruapehu, which is due at Wellington next week. Ho is accompanied by Mrs. and M isa M. Truby King.

The Surveyor-General, Mr. James Mackenzie, who, during tho past 10 days has been travelling through the Waikato, King Country, To Aroha, Cambridge, and Piako district*, returned to Auckland last night, and will remain here on Departmental business until tho end of the week.

Sir Joseph Ward, Bart., who for the past few days has been staying at the Star Hotel, left for To Aroha early yesterday morning. He attended the agricultural show yesterday, and this evening will deliver a speech at an Opposition gathering at Te Aroha.

The Rev. Dr. W. F. Adeney, ex-chair-man of the Congregational Union of England, who' has been visiting Wellington, will attend the meetings of the New Zealand Congregational Union to bo held in Auckland on February 11. Dr. Adeney will visit Christchurch early in March.

The Very Rev. Father Holbrook, Chancellor of the Roman Catholic D.'ocesft of Auckland, is expected to reach Wellington to-day on his return from a visit to Great Britain. He is to be entertained at a reception in Auckland next month. Father Holbrook, while in Ireland, secured five postulants for the Sister of Mercy Order, amongst whom is a niece of his own. They arrived in Auckland a few days ago.
