YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS.

Little business was done on the Stock Ex • change yesterday, but the quotations of several of the mining lines hardened slightly. In investment stocks Bank of New Zealands were available at £12 Is. New Zealand Insurances were inquired for at £5 15s, but sellers wanted £5 16s 6d. A sale of Northern Coals (10s paid) was reported at 10s 6d. Sellers of Auckland Trams asked 22s (pref.) and 21s 9d (ord.). Waihi mining shares brought 53s 6d and 545, and more could be had for 54s 9d. Talismans were done at 435. Waihi Grand Junctions continued to hold firm at 26s 6d, with further sellers at 26s 9d. Ross Goldfields brought 6s Bd.
