WELSH PIT DISASTER.
CAUSE OF THE EXPLOSION.

London, January 9. An expert witness during the course of the inquiry yesterday into the great Welsh colliery disaster, by which 400 men were entombed, gave it as his opinion that the explosion occurred at the lamp station, where an open lamp ignited the gas freed by a heavy fall.
