BABY IN HOT WEATHER.
Many a case of summer diarrhoea, in babies would be prevented if the milk was always kept covered with a piece of thin muslin. Fhe« falling into the milk frequently infect it with the germs of this dangerous ailment. Milk should never be kept in any place that is close to a drain or dust bin. No article of food is so quickly and easily infected with disease germs as milk. Remember flint "paddling" when practised by young children at the seaside may be productive of a great deal of serious illness. A sea- beach is not a healthy place for babies during the hottest hours of a midsummer day. For baby's use during a spell of sultry weather a good brand of condensed milk is often valuable. A Useful Hint: When baby arrives at the creeping stage he cannot be left in his cot unprotected, but if the following substitute for a safety net is fastened to the top rails of the cot its little occupant can. be left in perfect security. Procure some of the belting which is sold for finishing the waists of skirts, etc., and cut into pieces to correspond, some with the length, the others with the width of the cot. Arrange these lengths into squares of about four inches, and sew together with strong thread, forming a network to cover tm? top of the cot. Fasten the net work to two sides of the cot, using a long end of the belting for the purpose, and lacing it in and out of the rails, When baby is put to bed, place the long end of the bolting in and out of the remaining two sides of the cot and knot, the end securely, so that the child cannot force a way out. A dozen ■yards of belting at id per yard ia sufficient lor an ordinary cot.
