ST. MARY'S CONVENT.
ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING. The social hall of the St. Mary's Convent High School was crowded last evening by the parents of the pupils, the friends, and ex-pupils, on the occasion of tho annual musical entertainment and prize distribution. The major part of the evening was taken up by a splendid musical programme, in which every pupil in the school took part, and which wan greatly onjoyod by the audience. At the conclusion of the, programme brief addresses were given by Bishop Clcary and the Mayor (Mr. C. J. I'arr). His Lordship expressed unstinted admiration at tho accomplished manner in which the Sisters had trained the children. The Mayor welcomed the change which brou"ht him to the Bchool. and complimented the Sisters on the excellent programme He recognised tho splendour of tho great work' being carried on unremittingly by the Sisters, and this without hope or desire of any concrete reward. The greatest ' office on earth was the office of teachers, for they made character. In conclusion, he hoped the Sisters would meet with the same success in the new building into which thoy would shortly move. , The prizes won during the year were then distributed.
