GRADING OF TEACHERS.
m SATISFACTION WITH SYSTEM. The report of the sub-committee appointed to consider appeals from teachers against their grading by the inspectors was received by the- Education Board last night, and it showed thaLout of over 700 teachers who had been graded, only 15 voiced complaints. Mr. E. C. Purdie said there had been a .good deal of controversy over the grading system lately, and the fact that only 15 had complained distinctly proved that the grading was carried out very satisfactorily indeed. The Chairman (Mr. G. J. Garland): It bears out what I said two mouths ago— that not more than % per cent, of the teachers were opposed to the grading scheme.
