ECLIPSE OF THE MOON.

OBSCURED BY CLOUDS.

The many amateur astronomers who expected to view the eclipse of the moon last night were disappointed owing to the cloudiness of the sky. Had it been clear the shadow of the earth proper would have been seen to obscure the moon at 10.23 p.m. At 11.31 the moon was totally eclipsed, and remained so until 1.6 a.m., and the final contact with the shadow occurred at 3.27 a.m. Just before 2 o'clock this morning the clouds lifted a little and the shadow could be seen gradually receding from the moon.
