UNIVERSITY COLLEGE COUNCIL.

m A meeting of the council of the Auckland University College, held yesterday, afternoon, was attended by Mr. G. L. Peacocke -chairman), Professor Segar, Professor Egerton, Dr. W. C. McDowell, Dr. H. D. Bamford, the Rev. J. H. Simmonds, the Hon. J. A. Tole, Messrs. G. J. Garland, T. W. Leys, T. U. Wells, and H. J. Mahon. It was decided to grant the law lecturer's application for the supply of £36 worth of law books, although the registrar stated that it was a.problem to know where to store them. The chairman said that more and more pupils were coming forward for the law class, and the books would no doubt assist in its success.

A quantity of purely formal business, mostly referring to leases of the council's land endowments, was dealt with, and the council adjourned.
