FESTIVITIES MARRED. AEROPLANE FATALITY. DURING THE REGATTA. By Telegraph— Association— (Received August 7, 10.2S p.m.) , Victoria (8.C.), August 7. • The bluejackets from H.M.S. New Zealand to-day participated in a regatta, in which aeroplane flights, water polo, and a musical festival were included among the principal features. The sailors from the United States warships won most of the events. „ The regatta was sadly marred by the death of an aviator named Bryan. The latter's aeroplane fell from a height of 300 ft when over the city. Bryan hit a roof and was killed instantly. The machine collapsed during a tricky wind. Rear-Admiral Reynolds, of the United States squadron now in port, inspected the New Zealand this afternoon and greatly admired her.
