UNITY LABOUR CONGRESS.
REPRESENTATION QUESTION
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Tuesday. The Unity Congress resumed to-day. Mr. Camnbell (Railway Construction Workers) moved that the conference adjourn for five minutes in order to demonstrate sympathy with the Johannesburg strikers. The motion was earned.
The financial portions of the constitution ■were then discussed. Mr. Young moved, and Mr. Hunter seconded, the addition of the -ords after delegates" in clause 3 (regarding the annual congress), "each delgate shall be a bona fide member." Considerable discussion took place on the question whether the words "or official" should not be added after " bona fide member." On the voices it was decided to add the words first suggested. The question of adding the words " or official" was then considered. Eventually the clause was amended to read, with respect to representation. " Kadi delegate shall be a bona fide member of the United Federation of Labour and a member of the industry he represents."
It was resolved that no official of the United Federation shall receive more than* £5 weekly, with 10s a day expenses plus travelling fares. Nominations for office were then received.
