LICENSING OF PLUMBERS.

| DOM ON REGISTRATION. 1~. NEW ACT IN OPERATION. , A CENTRA*, system of licensing plumbers was established by the Plumbers' Registration Act of last session,, which comes into operation to day? The. ■: Plumbers' Board of New Zealand is established by the Act. lit will comprise the Chief Healiih Officer, who wall.be chairman of the board, the InspectorGeneral of Sclwols, an engineer appointed by the Governor, and a master plumber, and a journeyman plumber,, elected by their respective federated associations. Applications for registration are to be dealt with by this authority, and most January a list of the plumbers to whom certificates have been issued will be published in the Gazette. No registered plumber will be required to pass any examination or to pay any licensee fee under any lay-law made by a local authority or a. drainage board. The annual fee under the Act will be fixed by registration at an amount not exceeding Ss. * Regulations are to' be mad© prescribing districts or localities within which all sanitary plumbing must be done by registered plumbers. They will not operate until six months after the- regulation, in applied to the respective districts. The Act is concerned only with sanitary plumbing, and will not be in force outside those districts to which it is applied by regulations.
